Have loved One Word for years, though I have to admit I didn't use their entry form or time restrictions, just often responded well to their prompt words.

Yes, me too - it often simply sparks off something and then I take it outside the restrictions and explore it some more…

I also can’t believe it’s still going. Must have started using it over 10 years ago?!

This is often how I write. It oulipo of course. My current project. Each story should be written in a different style. Same characters. But different iterations of them. One story is notes. One a diary. Written in first person. Second. First person plural. I’d never done that before!

Ooh I love this concept. What a great idea! Must keep it feeling really fresh each time.

I'm a slow and not very steady writer/rider of poems, plays, and a memoir.

Slow (and sporadic?) is often the way, in my experience. That's a nice varied array of projects to skip between though.

Ahhhh, Jo! Thank you so much for the glowing write up. I tried the 60 second story prompt and I am howling at what my strange brain vomited out. I think I've found my new hobby!!! I submit it here for your reading pleasure(??). By the fourth sentence it reeeeeallly wanted to be a poem...

Merry goes around the world. She was a woman named Merry and she wasn't very happy at all. She was a sad little bitch. She travelled the world in a sad little balloon and she never stopped flying until she hit the moon. Who knew what pleasures she could find if she'd finally end her balloon ride.

Oh, I love her! "She was a sad little bitch" is my favourite line ever. I'm now wondering how you can be sad while flying in an air balloon but maybe they're not all they're cracked up to be (windy? cold? gassy?). Merry's full life story clearly needs to be told...

And you're so welcome. The script programme has been such a motivator. Speaking of which, I need to go work on my outline. Ahem.

She’s incapable of appreciating the airborne things in life. That line surprised me as much as it did you ;D I’m glad the program is helping! Plus getting to hang out with you lot once a month is good fun already!

That’s another great line right there - incapable of appreciating the airborne things in life…

And yay, looking forward to our next catch up too!
